Homemade Big Red Ice Cream

Do you make homemade ice cream?

If you do then you might want to try Big Red ice cream. If you live in the south, then you know what Big Red soda is but you can use whatever red soda your area stocks.

Here are the ingredients:
1 - 2 liter Big Red Zero Soda
2 - 14oz cans Fat Free Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 - 10oz jar of maraschino cherries, chopped (optional)
Ice Cream Maker - we use a 2 Quart Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

Stir together half of the soda with the two cans of milk.Chop up half of the jar of cherries and add to the mixture. Pour into your ice cream maker. Turn on your ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer directions. Our machine took about 20 minutes to make the ice cream. Eat and enjoy.  Store leftovers in the freezer (if there are any leftovers!)

Note - Our 2 quart machine can only hold about 1/2 of the bottle of soda. If your machine is bigger, you can add more soda.

You can also make this using an orange soda and add in a can of crushed pineapple along with the sweetened condensed milk.

Hope you enjoy the recipe. Let me know if you try this or if your family has a favorite homemade ice cream. We would love to try yours.
