Homemade Stocking Holders

I want to share with you my homemade stocking holders.

I made these last year and just loved how they turned out. I didn't have a blog last year to share my project so I will share it with you all now!

I bought these beautiful ceramic door votive holders from Hobby Lobby.

I had my husband cut square blocks of plain wood to fit the doors. I painted them with DecoArt Dazzling Metallic paints in Rich Espresso and edged with Champagne Gold. I covered the top, front, and sides with scrapbook paper from My Minds Eye Lost and Found Christmas collection.

I bought the knobs from Hobby Lobby as well and my husband drilled holes for them to fit nice and tight.

I use the battery operated votive candles and they are so pretty turned on at night. Here is a side view.

I used E6000 glue to glue down the ceramic doors to the wood.

Here is a view with the votive candle on.

Here is a full view with the votive candles on.

Here is a view with the room getting darker.

I hope you enjoyed this project.

  3. Stopping by from the WOW party. I love your beautiful stocking holders! You really did a creative job of making them into stocking holders. The votive candle adds such a great look to them on the mantle! The stockings are cute too!

  7. Oh I love them! I'm having such a hard time finding stocking holders now that I have a mantle and have thought a few times about just making some! These are so great! Thanks for sharing at Show & Share, featuring these tomorrow!

  9. These are fantastic! I've been looking for stocking holders and everything just seemed a little blah, but this is exactly what I want. I'm definitely going to make these.

  10. Do you sell them? Somehow I don't think something this pretty could be bought in a store. My wife and I are both severely arthritic in our hands and wouldn't mind paying for these beautiful hangers.
