Scrapbooking a Family Photo Session and Other Ideas

In this post I want to share how I scrapbooked our family photo session.

I also have some tips and gift ideas for these special photos.

Here is the YouTube video if you would like to see everything in detail.
We always take professional family photos the day after Thanksgiving.
We have a standing appointment with our photographer. She was Emily's first grade teacher and is wonderful!
I love every picture that she takes and I want to capture every picture when I scrapbook.
Thank goodness for divided page protectors!
I took my favorite picture from the session and printed it at 8.5x11 to make a 12x12 layout.
The remaining pictures I printed at 4x6 and 3x4 size and placed in a divided page protector by Simple Stories.
Here are the supplies used.

Chic Tags Happy Place collection for the embellishments
Crate Paper DIY Shop "Decor" for the background paper
Simple Stories Harvest Lane Collection

Here is the layout with detailed pictures.
"Enjoy Life"

I love this picture and layout so much! I just want to frame it and leave it on display for a while.

I love the new chic tags collection called happy place and used a lot of the goodies on the lower right side of the layout.

I cut the layout title on my Silhouette cameo using paper from the Harvest Lane collection.

The scalloped border is from the collection as well.

I made a small cluster of goodies on the top left corner. It is a mix of Chic tags and Crate Paper goodies.

This is my favorite part of the layout and the last thing I added. Sequins are so much fun and popular right now. I love the look of the sequins going along with the leaves in the picture.

Oh sigh, enjoy life baby girl!!

I hope she always has this much fun!!

For the remaining photo pictures, I printed the landscape pictures at 4x6 and the portrait pics at 3x4.

For the empty pockets I filled with the Harvest Lane collection papers and some cuts from the Silhouette cameo.

Here are a couple of other ideas for your family photos.

For the past three years, I have made calendars for Christmas gifts.

For my 2013 calendar, I used our family photos for the calendar.

This was a Recollections brand calendar from Michael's and comes with the stickers, chipboard, and ribbon/embellishments. Follow the directions and add your photos and you have a fabulous gift.

I added the titles with my Silhouette Cameo.

Tip - If the colors in your picture do not mix with the background paper, print your picture in black and white. It works perfectly.

Here is another idea for the family photos.

Buy an inexpensive 4x6 brag book and decorate it with a paper collection or your Project Life
kits would work as well.

Here is my video showing you this brag book in detail.

Thank you for reading this long post! I hope you got some ideas for scrapbooking your family photos.

Thank you for looking. See you on the next post.

12x12 Layout - Live Life Happy Everyday

I have a 12x12 layout to share with you today.

"Live Life Happy Everyday"

Here is the YouTube video showing you everything in detail.

This is Emily's 5th grade school photo from 2012.

I used the Elle's Studio sketch below for my inspiration.

I pulled the three paper collections below to use for this layout.

These are some of the stamps and the circle scalloped punch that I used on the layout.

Here are some more detailed pictures of the layout.

I am using the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss "Live Life Happy Everyday" for my title.

In the bottom right corner, under the title strip, I stamped the polka dot stamp from the Amy Tangerine set in the picture above using Versamark ink. I wanted a tone on tone look and something that would help embellish this corner. It is very subtle.

I added Emily's name at the beginning of the title piece. I also added a cluster of stickers and banners below the title to add in Emily's age, grade, and the year.

These circle scallops were fun to decorate with various embellishments.

I love this long title piece from the vintage bliss collection and used it down the side.

This layout was so much fun to complete and I love the colors!!

Thank you for looking. See you on the next post.

Project Life Update and Video - Final layouts for my 2012 Album

I completed my 2012 project life album!!!

Here is the YouTube video with all of the details.

Here are the December layouts.

I used two older paper collections from my stash for the paper and embellishments.

Since I completed a 2012 December Daily album, I just did an overview of the month for my project life pages.

This layout used the Jovial collection by Basic Grey.

The next couple of layouts are using the 25 Days of Christmas collection from Simple Stories.

On these next two layouts, I only did one journaling card. I journaled a general overview of our Christmas.

The rest is pictures and collages from Christmas and the last days of 2012.

This is my end page for my 2012 album.

I am so happy that I took the time to complete this album and get caught up. All of these pictures and moments are now in one location for my friends and family to enjoy.

Thanks for looking!

Refurbished Bird Bath

Today I want to share with you my refurbished bird bath.

This bird bath has been with us for at least eight years and two houses.

It was beginning to look its age and needed some help.

I forgot to take a true before picture, but as you can see below, the top of the bird bath was looking weathered.

Andy sanded it down some more with a wire wheel attachment on his electric drill.

Here is what it looked like after Andy smoothed it out.

He then cleaned it up with this grease and wax remover.

It was then ready to be spray painted.

First we used a primer and then sprayed it with a dark bronze spray paint.

We had these both in our spray paint stash, so we didn't have to purchase anything for this project.

Andy is such a great spray painter!

Yay! It looks brand new!

I love adding small pumpkins to it every fall.

I love how clean and shiny it looks now.

So much better!!

I love easy and inexpensive projects that don't take a lot of time, but the effects are so beautiful!

Thanks for looking and see you on the next post.

Project Life Update and Video

I completed my November 2012 project life layouts.

Here is the YouTube video if you want to see and hear everything in detail.

Here are my layouts for November 2012.

For these layouts I used two My Minds Eye 6x6 paper pads.  I also used other products from Elle's Studio, Chic Tags, October Afternoon, We R Memory Keepers, stamps from Ali Edwards and cuts from my Silhouette Cameo.

This layout covers my fall planting, a trip to my parents farm, Emily out sick for school, and Emily's school project.

This layout covers my first canvas mixed media piece, video here, our trip to our new TCBY yogurt shop, my voted sticker for election day, some artwork from Emily, and our road trip to Granbury, Texas.

This layout covers veteran's day, Emily's new dive team swimsuit, lunch with Emily at school, Breaking Dawn 2 movie, and capturing Emily doing homework and me working on our meal plans/recipes.  Here is the video for my recipe boxes/planner.

This entire layout covers our adoption of Mac, our fawn pug from DFW Pug Rescue society.

This layout covers Thanksgiving Day with Andy's family.

This is an insert, Becky Higgins design J page protector.  This was Mac's first trip to a park.

The other side of the insert covers Emily's love of nature and tree climbing.

This layout covers Thanksgiving with my family at our home.

I love these layouts and the memories that I captured.  I can't believe that I am almost caught up for 2012.

Thank you for looking and I will see you on the next post.
