My 2014 Valentine Mantel

Hi there!
Today I want to share with you my Valentine mantel.

I normally don't decorate for Valentine's Day, but I just couldn't resist adding a touch of red to my mantel.

I had so much fun making some red colored crafts for my mantel.

I have a lot of pictures to share with you, so let's get started.

Here is a picture of my supplies.

Chipboard letters are from Hobby Lobby
Heart Styrofoam is from Hobby Lobby
Cherry Red Americana Paint from Hobby Lobby
Valentine Cupcake Liners and Heart Doilies from Hobby Lobby
Valentine Scrapbook Paper is from my Stash. (leftover older collections from Pink Paislee and Crate Paper)

The first thing that I did was paint the chipboard letters with the Cherry Red paint and then set them aside to dry.  I painted them with two coats of paint.

Next, I cut the scrapbook paper into 6 x 1/2 inch strips. I curled the paper using a bonefolder and then stuck the curls into the heart Styrofoam wreath with some straight pins.

Later, after I finished putting in all of the paper, I painted the wreath with the cherry red paint which I should have done beforehand. (note to self!)

Hear is a look at the completed letters and curly paper heart wreath.

The heart wreath is propped up on the letter L and up against the faux window.

I made a fun cupcake liner banner by using my paper piercer and putting a hole in the middle of the liners and running some red twine  through it.  I used a pattern of three cupcake liners and one heart doily.  I wasn't sure of the length so I just used every cupcake liner for this banner.

I put this across the top of my faux window that sits on my mantel.

My next project is for my fireplace cover and it  is this cute Polaroid banner.

I cut these three Polaroid shapes from the Silhouette Store. They are by designer Sarah Hurley and are called heart Polaroid frames.

I used red card stock.

I also pulled this Ali Edwards Be Mine stamp set and some red and white embossing powder.

Here it is with the embossing and backed with some patterned paper.

I used hemp cord to hold it all together.

Here is the completed banner.

I placed it in my book paper frame.

I ended up embellishing each Polaroid with some of the stickers from the older paper collections that I used.

I also took two of those heart doilies and painted them with some gold paint and added to the banner to fill in the middle.

The last project that I decided to make were these fun layered hearts.

I have these pinned on my Valentine Pinterest board and the directions to make these can be found here.

I didn't take pictures during the process.

I love how these look hanging from my faux window.

They are super easy but very fun to make.

I had so much fun making these simple crafts for my mantel.

I hope you are inspired to raid your stash and make some fun valentine projects.

See you next time!
