Wood Block Christmas Trees (Process Video Included)

I wanted to create some new Christmas home decor so I chose these fun wood block Christmas trees.
You can see my inspiration piece here on Pinterest.
You can also see the process video here:
Supplies:
2x4x8 Stud
Compound Miter Saw or Hand Saw
Template
Gorilla Wood Glue
2 in 1 White Primer/Spray Paint
Scrapbook Paper
Acrylic Paint
Fabri-Tac Glue
Embellishments (Star, Jute, Chipboard)
First we designed a template on notebook paper.
We kept our sizes even (no half sizes).
This made it easier later on when I was cutting my scrapbook paper to fit.

Here is the 2x4x8 stud that we bought from Home Depot.

My husband just cut the board into pieces to match the template we designed above.

Here is the completed cut tree next to the template we created.

For the base piece, we used some leftover fence post that we had in our stash as well. The bigger block provides a stronger base for the trees.

Before we glued each piece using Gorilla wood glue, we sanded each piece to remove the rough edges. Then we glued the blocks together and then we spray painted them with some white 2 in 1 primer/paint.

I then brought the trees into my craft room and got to work decorating them.

I picked out some scrapbook paper from October Afternoon called Holiday Style.

Since the paper was cream based, I used some acrylic paint to cover the edges of the blocks to blend better with the paper.

I cut my paper to fit the front and sides of the blocks and then used Fabri-Tac glue to glue it down.

I then used the paint to distress the edges.

I also used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in vintage photo to go over the edges of the blocks for some more distressing.

I also used these paper stars on the project as well.

I painted them and covered them in the scrapbook paper too.

Here is the completed project.

Here are some close-up's.

I wrapped the star with some jute and added a couple of chipboard pieces and a green enamel dot.

I added a chipboard snowflake and banner.

Here is another chipboard piece.

This turned out so cute and it was a fun project to make.

We ended up making three trees with the one board that we bought and some scrap wood that we had left around our garage.

I hope you enjoyed this project and how to video.

We enjoyed making them for our holiday home decor.

Thanks for looking! See you on the next post.

Hugs, Shelly
