My One Little Word for 2016 - Change

In this blog post, I want to share with you my 2016 One Little Word.

If you are not familiar with One Little Word, you can watch this quick, but powerful, 3 minute video from Ali Edwards about her creation of the One Little Word.

My word for 2016 is Change.

I filmed an overview on my album and the other ways that I am incorporating my word in my planners and traveler's notebook if you would like to see it all upclose! I also share my vision board too!

I had other words tossing around in my mind, but the word change really stood out for me.

I need to make some changes for my health, both physically and mentally.

I decided to pay for the class that Ali offers and I am using her prompts and printables in a 8.5x11
We R Memory Keepers Strawberry album. I originally used this album for Ali's class in 2011.

I have plenty of room left for another year of content.

I am also using the scrapbook collection called My Story by My Minds Eye.

For January, Ali gave us some cards and prompts for writing more about the definition, reason why, let go, take action, etc for our words.

Here is the way that I put together my January pages.

I cut my word, change, on my Silhouette Cameo using the font called Grand Hotel. I used some of the patterned paper from the My Story collection.

On the other side, I added Live Your Story and that was also cut from my Silhouette Cameo.

For the prompt cards, I used a 6x8 page protector from Simple Stories.

I included a quote card from Pinterest and a fun selfie collage that I created using the PicFrame app and the Collect app.

The selfie cards says, "Note to self - I hope you know you're capable & brave & significant. Even when it feels like you're not." I think sometimes we all need to hear this, don't you think?

The quote that I chose is by John C. Maxwell, "You'll never CHANGE your life until you CHANGE something you do daily. The secret is found in your daily routine."

Here is the backside of the layout. More prompt cards explaining my reason why, what I want to let go, and how I want to take action.

I also talked about the year ahead for my word.

These are my intentions for my word.

They are not life changing by any means, but they are something to word towards for the year.

For the February prompt, we are to pick one activity to focus on and practice everyday.

I had this 8.5x11 page protector in my stash that has several pocket sizes.

I added the printables that Ali provided for us and then filled in the other pockets with patterned paper and quotes from Pinterest.

My one activity to do each day is to create. Creating makes me happy, it will help me finish uncompleted projects, and it helps clear my mind and it is my meditation.

I am stamping a pink heart into each day that I get into my craft room and create.

At the end of month, I can write my reflections about how well I did with my practice.

I chose to use a picture of my One Little Word vision board, but at the end of the month, I will probably replace that with a collage picture of my creations.

This was one of my favorite quote cards that I found on Pinterest, She carefully gathers the minutes of her life and lives them. Love it!

I wanted to leave you with a look at my vision board that is in my craft room.

You can see a tour of my craft room here

This is an open frame that I purchased from Hobby Lobby. I spray painted it red to match my decor.

I hung wire from the back of the frame and use it to hang printables, pictures, etc.

I chose to use this as a vision board for my One Little Word for this year.

Right now, I have printables, and die cuts on the board, but I hope to add more personal pictures and accomplishments on it as the year goes by.

I added my word that I cut from my Silhouette Cameo and a lot of my favorite cards that I found on Pinterest that relate to my word, change.

Here is the bottom row. The be brave is also a die cut from my cameo.

I have never created a vision board for a project, but so far, I am loving it!

Well, thank you for reading my post today about my one little word.

I hope to continue sharing the monthly prompts with you all.

If you are doing one little word, leave me a comment with your word and blog so I can see how you are using it for 2016.

Hugs, Shelly

Craft Room Tour 2016

I have had several subscribers ask me for an updated craft room tour.
I filmed and took updated pictures of my room for 2016.
I hope you enjoy!
The sign below is the new Heidi Swapp lightbox and it so much fun to play with!

You can see the YouTube video below with a complete look at my room and how I organized my supplies.

Here are the pictures of my room. I love my space so much!

This used to be a guestroom that was never used, so I turned it into my craft room a few years ago.

This is the view from the doorway.

The color of the walls is called Cloudless by Behr paints from Home Depot.

As you come in and turn left, I have my Ikea Expedit and Alex drawer units.

I love decorating with vintage pieces mixed in with my homemade decor.

The is a spice rack system from The Container Store.

This is the perfect wall behind my door for this rack to hold my paints and mixed media supplies.

This is from the far corner of my room facing the door and closet.

I love how much these Ikea units can hold!

Keep in mind that your crafty supplies make great decorations for your room!

The shelves in my room are from Ikea and I decorated with a variety of antique cameras, shutters, a bingo card, an old jar filled with ribbon, some framed pictures, and some of my mini albums that I have made over the years.

The rail and pail system is from Ikea as well.

I am using an antique sewing drawer that I painted white to hold my Traveler's Notebooks.

The corner by the window is where I have my Ikea Raskog cart and another cart from Amazon.

Here is a view of my desk, which is also from Ikea.

My studio lights are from Amazon and they are called Cowboy Studio lighting system.

I have another smaller shelf and rail/pail system from Ikea over my desk.

The spinner tool caddy is a must for a craft room and can be found at Michael's or Hobby Lobby.

I have more fun goodies on this shelf that is over my desk. More jars filled with buttons, cameras, a candy jar filled with my sewing thread, a painted mason jars, etc.

Here is a close-up of my blocks that I can flip around that say capture, create, document, and inspire.

This is a table that we built to fit this spot to hold my sewing machine and Silhouette cameo.

If you are in need of an extra tabletop, I use this inexpensive TV tray from Home Depot.

I use this to hold my project life album when I am creating my monthly layouts.

When I don't need it, I can fold it up and place it in my closet.

I also love using open frames with wire for creating mood boards, vision boards, or hanging pictures or printables. Currently, I have my One Little Word vision board on this frame.

The frames came from Hobby Lobby and I spray painted them red and just add on the wire to the back of the frame.

Well, that is a look at my craft room for 2016.

If you want to see more details, please watch the YouTube video linked above.

Thanks for visiting today.

Hugs, Shelly
